Umncedi has successfully launched 6 Provincial WhatsApp Groups, and recently travelled to the Free State to open their 7th group!

While there, we connected with ECD Forum Chairs from Bloemfontein, Welkom, Virginia, and Dealesville, working together to strengthen Early Childhood Development in these communities. Our goal is to keep supporting ECD Practitioners with the information and resources they need to provide quality care and they are looking forward to partnering with other organizations to make this vision a reality and uplift ECD across South Africa!

We also attended a meeting where the ECD directorate successfully hosted the Provincial Stakeholders launch on the 30th of October, underscoring its mandate to spearhead and coordinate ECD service implementation across the province and got an opportunity to talk about the work Umncedi & ECD Connect do to improve ECD Centres across South Africa.

The National Integrated ECD Policy prioritises a comprehensive approach encompassing healthcare, nutrition, responsive caregiving, early learning, and safety from birth to adulthood. Effective implementation necessitates an intersectoral forum, convening government and non-governmental organizations to address key gaps and enhance outcomes. This collaborative platform comprises Provincial Government Departments, NGOs, training institutions, private foundations, donors, and National DBE support.
