Nal’ibali (isiXhosa for “here’s the story”) is a national South African reading-for-enjoyment campaign designed to spark children’s potential through storytelling and reading in their home languages. The organisation develops multilingual literacy resources and supports a vast network of reading clubs, mentors, and volunteers to embed a culture of reading in homes, schools, and communities. By promoting literacy from birth through age 12, they aim to equip children with the foundational skills necessary for academic success and lifelong learning.
